Gordon Byars is excited to be joining Hemp Law Group and brings with him a diverse background and knowledge of the law to the growing hemp industry in Tennessee.
Gordon was born lived in Las Vegas, Nevada until he was a teenager when he moved to a small agricultural community in West Tennessee with his father. Through high school in Huntingdon, Tennessee, Gordon learned first hand how deeply reliant on agriculture the community was. Cotton, soybeans and corn are interwoven in the very infrastructure of that West Tennessee town.
Gordon went on to receive a Bachelor's of Science from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee. From there he spent almost five years living in East Tennessee, where tobacco was the reason many towns originally existed. During law school Gordon served as a law clerk for the Tennessee Attorney General and Reporter's Office in the Civil Litigation and State Services Division. Fortunately, during his time with the Attorney General's Office, he was able to participate in a rare civil jury trial defended by the State of Tennessee.

For the final two years of law school and for a subsequent year after, Gordon worked for a small, boutique-style, criminal defense, civil rights and business litigation law firm in East Tennessee.
Gordon then moved back to Cookeville Tennessee to start a law practice. For the past six years, Gordon has developed a successful litigation practice in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee focusing on criminal defense, business defense and general civil litigation practice. He has conducted many jury trials, winning the favor of judges and juries. Particularly Gordon spends most of his time in the courtroom defending citizens accused of a crime. That area of his practice has expanded his experience arguing to juries. He has argued before the Tennessee Court of Appeals, as well as handled cases before Administrative tribunals including the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, and the Board of Nursing.
Recently Gordon has been consulting with new clients in the Upper Cumberland area who are developing and growing their own Hemp. He has been able to bring his diverse knowledge of litigation to assist his Hemp clients. Gordon believes the new opportunities in the Hemp market can positively impact the economy in the Upper Cumberland through growing, processing and selling Hemp and its derivatives. Thankfully, Tennessee has an advantage and is uniquely suited to foster this new agricultural and industrial opportunity. Gordon is thrilled to be able to bring the knowledge, experience, and resources of Hemp Law Group to the businesses and people of the Upper Cumberland.
